#6 The Warrior Way, Dress Code, and Remind

This video explains some of our expectations for our students and staff while on campus and during this time of distance learning. I also give you information about my Remind group so you're always in the loop on counseling-related activities and announcements.

all right this is the last video in the series of orientation videos and I just have a couple more slices left with some information about our school as well as a resource for you okay first thing I wanted to talk about is the warrior way where the war was here and so these are our school wide expectations for all of us use the students and and Mia staff and teachers and and everybody else who's here that were present and that doesn't just mean physically we're still present no we're doing distance learning at the beginning of the year because we're present in mind we're here we're learning together we're experiencing things with each other we're open to new experiences and understandings were present present mentally prompt and that doesn't just mean on time with our assignments and our tasks in our jobs but also in our word when we commit to do something we follow through in there problems with that were productive we're doing our work we're getting I work done work on flushing what we need to wear setting goals were reaching those goals were helping each other out and then finally were polite and this is a huge part of our culture here at Mountain View in Mountain Heights there's a small school small campus clicks that can exist at bigger schools tend to dissolve in a smaller school like this just because we don't really have a choice because of how few students there are relatively speaking and so everyone comes a different Walk of Life but we respect that we respect our differences we learn from each other we appreciate each other because of our differences and our uniqueness and we're kind to each other because of it okay so you guys as Warriors and mountain lions at Mountain View and Mountain Heights we expect these attitudes and behaviors from you and and from all of us and I promise that when we do this as a great place to be I love working here I love being here I love student I love interacting with everybody because this is such a big part of our culture and the culture is only what it is because of you guys it's the students really who make this such an important part of our culture as far as staff goes we're a relatively small staff and so really it comes down to you guys as the students so as the new students watching these videos I'm recruiting you to learn about these things and internalize them in to make them part of who you are and how you Acton and think walk here at Mountain View and Mountain Heights okay just like Mo schools we have a dress code just some things I want to point out mostly everything is pretty similar to what you probably before cats are allowed they do however need to be a solid color without any kind of logo the exception is we have what you see picture here which are warriors caps and beanies they come in different colors and they are free mr. Swanson GIF those for our students and they are free of charge so if you like wearing hats but you want to make sure your dress code compliant feel free to talk to our principal and he will hook you up with 1K shirt short socks shoes every need to be free of any kind of profanity or references to drugs or violence or anything like that and just isn't over all kind of broad statement to guide us while we're choosing our attire is that we're trying to establish a professional learning environment as I said in one of the other videos we're training you for the Adult World in the the world of work and we just want to set you up for success finally as I mentioned before I'm school counselor and I use a system that called remind there a lot of different ways that we can communicate and that we will need to communicate especially with distance learning but this will probably be one of the easiest ways to get ahold of me if you've never use reminder for basically what it is is a text messaging platform it allows me to make some announcements and send them out to you and they come to you like a text message the nice thing about it is that it doesn't share any of your personal in Nation with me I don't get your phone numbers or anything like that I only see the name of who signed up for my remind group parents you're welcome Guardians you're welcome to join as well I highly encourage that there's a couple different ways to join can join by text if you open up your messaging app and you text in the message box at mr. Ryan mvhs to the number 81010 and send that you'll you'll join my group also go online to remind. Com join and put in my group code at mr. Ryan and VHS same as before and your phone number and like I said I don't ever see your phone number or if you don't have a phone but you have like a tablet or let's say you like an iPod or something like that you can download the remind app that's the logo there up at the top and you can join with my class code you don't need a phone number and as I've always the class code is at mr. Ryan mvhs find encourage you to do that because then you'll be in the loop of anytime I'm doing any kind of activity or presentation or saying a new scholarship float across my desk or something like that basically what it what it happens is that log on on my app or on the computer I'll type up an announcement I'll send it out and it'll come to your device just like a text message and then you can respond to it just like a text message if you have any follow-up questions or anything like that you can always send me a tax and that would be one of the easiest ways to get ahold of me so I highly highly encourage everybody like I said parents to to go ahead and join my remind group all right that's it for the orientation videos I hope found them helpful I hope you found them useful they will be up on the website so you can watch them as many times as you need to if you have questions or anything like that and as always please reach out to me if you have any further questions I be happy to answer them for you I'll give text you as soon as I can, I want you guys to have a good experience here at Mountain View and Mountain Heights I want it to not be intimidating or scary or confusing so please reach out and I'll be happy to help guide you along the way and as I said before I missed a Ryan I'm the school counselor and I can't wait to meet you all Buy
