Mtn. View Continuation High School

7:15 AM - 11:45 AM morning program

10:30 AM - 1:30 PM mid-morning program
 
Rate of Completion: Students may accelerate course completion depending on effort and attendance
 
Grades Enrolled: 10th - 12th
Minimum Entrance Age: 16 years of age
Enrollment: Enrollment and program placement is based on attendance, academic need, behavior

Independent Study Program

SJUSD Independent Study Program is for students enrolled at Monte Vista Middle, North Mountain Middle School, or San Jacinto High School but taking their classes through long term Independent Study (longer than 10 days) instead of attending classes on the campuses.
Student Hours: Times as assigned in consultation with family and I.S. staff between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Students must complete 30 hours of schoolwork per week at home and attend a 1 hour meeting with the teacher.
Rate of Completion: Students may accelerate course completion depending on effort and attendance.
Enrollment: No more than 10% of district 5th -12th grade students.
Grades Enrolled: 5th-12th
Minimum Entrance Age: None other than to be old enough to be in at least 5th grade. A parent/guardian or responsible adult must be present to supervise the student during the school day in order to participate in the program.

Mountain Heights Academy

A school taught using the Independent Study format, located on the Mountain View High School Campus.
Student Hours: Times as assigned in consultation with family and education staff. Students must complete 30 hours of schoolwork per week at home and attend a 1 hour weekly meeting with their teachers.
Rate of Completion: Students may accelerate course completion depending on effort and attendance.
Grades Enrolled: 1st - 12th
Minimum Entrance Age: Student must be in 1st grade or above to participate. A parent/guardian or responsible adult must be present to supervise younger students during the school day in order to participate in the program.

Adult Education School

The Adult Education program located on the Mountain View High School campus is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Programs include:  HiSET preparation, high school diploma completion, Citizenship Exam preparation, and Computer basics. Concurrently enrolled seniors may take classes at night after making the necessary arrangements with their school counselor.
